How to plant seed paper correctly (step by step)

Seed paper only does its job if it grows. Planting it takes five minutes and no gardening experience. Here is the method we share with every client.

Step by step

  1. Tear the paper into smaller pieces. Smaller pieces make better contact with soil and germinate more evenly.
  2. Prepare a pot or patch. Fill a pot with potting soil, or pick a spot in a garden bed. Loosen the top layer.
  3. Lay the paper down. Place the pieces flat on the soil, then cover with a thin layer (about 3–5 mm) of soil on top.
  4. Water generously at first. Soak it well on day one so the paper and seeds stay moist.
  5. Keep it moist, not soaked. Water daily for the first 1–2 weeks. The paper should never fully dry out during germination.
  6. Give it the right light. Most herb and wildflower seeds like bright, indirect light to start, then more sun as they grow.

Tips for Pakistani weather

  • In peak summer heat, keep the pot in partial shade so the soil doesn't dry out between waterings.
  • Spring and autumn are the easiest seasons for germination in most cities.
  • Tap water is fine. Just keep the watering consistent.

How long until it grows?

Most seeds sprout in 1–3 weeks depending on seed type, temperature and watering. Plant within two years of production for the best germination rate.

Why this matters for your brand

When you hand a recipient a plantable card, include a short planting guide. It makes a real difference to how many people actually plant it, which is the whole point. We can print these steps directly onto your product.
